Designplus and Co-Innovate based within Brunel University were formed in 2004 and 2012 respectively to facilitate collaboration and connections between industry and design in higher education. Our dedicated team work directly with industry to facilitate relationships with students and academics within Brunel’s renowned College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences and the University as a whole.

Brunel is a world-class university based in Uxbridge, London. Our distinctive approach has always been to combine academic rigour with the practical, entrepreneurial and imaginative approach pioneered by our namesake, Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

The University was founded in 1966 as a new kind of institution dedicated to providing research and teaching that could be applied to the needs of industry and society. At the heart of Brunel, the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences continues to draw inspiration from Isambard Kingdom Brunel: applying human centred creative approaches to solve complex challenges.

The Design School is home to 500 undergraduate and 200 postgraduate students with 75% of undergraduate students working for a year in industry as part of their courses. Brunel’s Product, Industrial Design, Brand and Design Strategy courses are amongst the highest rated in the UK and attract students from all over the world.

Our world-class Design Researchers are working on projects in the areas of sustainability, urban design, human centred design, smart textiles, biomimetics, biomedical electronics, future prototyping and manufacturing processes.
