Providing support to London based SMEs for new product and service development
Co-Innovate is an exciting new two year programme jointly funded by Brunel University and the European Regional Development fund. Over this two year period the initiative will support 150 small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the London region; introducing a dynamic range of activities to support new product and service development leading to business growth for the participating companies and economic and employment benefits for the region.
Co-Innovate builds on the internationally renowned work of Brunel’s College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences and is distinguished from many other initiatives to enhance collaboration between universities and industry through a focus on design and open, collaborative innovation. Hence our name Co-Innovate. In James Dyson’s 2010 Ingenious Britain Report he stated:
‘The UK has an innate creativity, inventiveness and competitive spirit. We need to harness these attributes to develop new products that create nationwide wealth. Our need is greater than ever.’
Brunel University, following in the illustrious path of Isambard Kingdom Brunel places design, engineering, innovation at the heart of our activity and we strongly believe that, as IKB Brunel demonstrated, these qualities have the power to transform. But as both Dyson and Brunel have proven, this needs practical action. Co-Innovate provides a platform for this transformative activity.
